This Land Where We Met
Body as landscape: as branch, as rock, as roots.
A collective momentum creates a wind and the wind slides between each and every blade of grass. The soil is as red as her hair and our skin is as smooth as a well turned river stone. When a month felt like years and strangers became home.
This Land Where We Met is an exploration of landscape and figure. A reminder that this land and the people that inhabit it should not exist as separate entities. This land was and is special not because it was untouched but because of a mutual understanding between it and its people. It does not serve as simply a wide vista to overlook, survey, and extract from and there is immense honor in knowing the dirt and leaves and morning dew. In situating ourselves in community with one another and with the hills, vines, and rivers.
Currently eight charcoal drawings.
